Platform Breakdown

Kajabi for memberships

An all-in-one business platform for course and coaching creators: site, funnels, email marketing, checkout, community, and memberships in one subscription.

What Kajabi is

Kajabi is an all-in-one platform for digital businesses. It replaces a website, a course tool, an email marketing tool, a checkout, and a light community, and charges accordingly.

Who it’s best for

Course and coaching businesses that are already earning and are tired of paying for and connecting four separate tools.

  • Course and coaching businesses that want one tool instead of five
  • Creators who need real email marketing and funnels alongside membership
  • Businesses past the validation stage with revenue to justify the price

Who should avoid it

Anyone whose product is primarily a community, and anyone still testing whether people will pay. The monthly cost is real from day one.

  • Community-first memberships, where the community tooling is thin
  • Anyone under about $2,000 a month in revenue
  • Newsletter-led businesses

Membership models it supports

Not every platform suits every kind of membership. These are the models we consider it a genuine option for.

Feature support

What is included, what needs a higher plan, and what simply is not there.

  • Community features

    Partially supported

One community on Basic and Growth, three on Pro. Lighter than a dedicated community platform.

  • Courses

    Supported

Full course product with drip, assessments, and progress.

  • Coaching and live events

    Supported

    Coaching products and scheduling included.

  • Video hosting

    Supported

Native video hosting with no separate storage charge.

  • Livestreaming

    Partially supported

Events and live sessions rather than a broadcast product.

  • Newsletter and publishing

    Partially supported

Blog and email broadcasts rather than a subscription newsletter.

  • Private podcast support

    Supported

Private podcast products with member-specific feeds.

  • Payments and monetization

    Supported

Kajabi Payments or third-party providers, with funnels, upsells, and order bumps.

  • Branding and customization

    Higher plan required

Custom domain on every plan; removing Kajabi branding requires Pro.

  • Branded mobile app

    Higher plan required

Kajabi offers a branded mobile app on higher tiers, but the pricing page did not state which plan includes it, so no plan is treated as providing it.

  • Audience discovery

    Not supported
  • Email and marketing

    Supported

Full email marketing and automation included, priced by contact count.

  • Integrations and API

    Supported

    Public API, webhooks, and Zapier.

  • Migration support

    Partially supported

Import tooling and paid migration services.

  • Customer and data ownership

    Supported

    Full contact and member export.

Important limitations

  • Entry is $179 a month on Basic, or $143 if you commit to $1,716 for the year. That is the highest floor of the mainstream course platforms.
  • Contact limits are the real constraint: Basic stops at 2,500 contacts including free leads.
  • The community feature is functional but noticeably lighter than Circle, Skool, or Heartbeat.

Data ownership and migration

Good. Contacts and members export cleanly, and you can use your own payment provider if you accept the extra Kajabi percentage. The lock-in is practical rather than contractual: rebuilding funnels and emails elsewhere is genuine work.
